Taser Zaps Competitor Stinger Systems

LAS VEGAS (CN) - Taser International claims its competitor, Stinger Systems, damaged its reputation "through fraudulent and misleading press releases, defamatory 'whisper campaigns' to potential customers and investors of Taser, and the defendants' use of lawsuits for marketing purposes". It claims Stinger's misleading press releases drove down the price of Taser stock.

Taser also sued Stinger CEO Robert Gruder and attorney James McNulty Jr., in Federal Court.

Taser International has been sued at least 139 times since 2004, according to the Courthouse News database. The database shows seven complaints against Stinger Systems in that time.

Stinger is represented by G. Mark Albright with Albright, Stoddard & Warnick.
