Judge Slashes Couple’s Award in Roundup Cancer Case

Alva and Alberta Pilliod, a Livermore couple who attributed their cancer diagnoses to years of Roundup use, will see only a fraction of the $2 billion in punitive damages a jury awarded them in May. A state trial judge cut their award down considerably in an order Thursday to a total of $86.7 million, which breaks down to about $30 million for Alva and $56 million for Alberta.

Monsanto Comes Out Swinging on $289M Roundup Cancer Verdict

In a pair of documents filed late Tuesday, Bayer subsidiary Monsanto asked a California judge to overturn a $289 million jury award to a San Francisco Bay Area man because there is not enough evidence to support the man’s claims its Roundup weed killer caused his terminal lymphoma and his lawyers manipulated the jury.
