A native-born U.S. citizen with learning disabilities sued the United States in San Antonio Federal Court, claiming Border Patrol officers arrested him without cause, despite having Texas ID on his person, deported him without seeing a judge, to Mexico, where he was kidnapped by a cartel and held for ransom, until the FBI retrieved him.

Report: 138 Salvadorans Killed After Being Deported From US

Advocates with a global human rights organization say at least 138 Salvadorans who were deported from the U.S. since 2013 were killed after returning to their home country, while more than 70 faced sexual violence, beatings, torture or other harm at the hands of gangs and even police.
