Adams County, Colo., sued Angela McMahan and her nonprofit, Arising Hope, in Adams County Court, claiming she persuaded it to give her $308,000 to buy a house and run a domestic-violence shelter, but in repeated visits found no clients and “no evidence to show the property was occupied at all beyond the personal belongings of Angela McMahan in the master bedroom.”
