A federal judge in Washington dismissed voter groups’ attempt to enjoin the certification of electors from Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan and Arizona and the counting of their votes for president. The judge wrote that the complaint “would be risible were its target not so grave: the undermining of a democratic election for President of the United States.”

Electoral Count Act

A federal court in Texas dismissed U.S. Representative Louie Gohmert’s suit challenging the constitutionality of the Electoral Count Act for lack of standing. Gohmert and the other plaintiffs, Republican presidential electors for Arizona, claimed there are “competing slates” of electors from contested states and the vice president should decide which electoral votes should count.
