Taco Bell Price Hike Sets a Dude Off

SAN ANTONIO (CN) - A man is expected to face three charges of attempted capital murder after a standoff with police that began when he ordered seven Beefy Crunch Burritos from a Taco Bell and was upset that the price had gone up from 99 cents to $1.49.

"They did use to be 99 cents, but that was just a promotion," Taco Bell manager Brian Tillerson told San Antonio Express-News. "He pointed a gun at me, and he fired it. I leaned to the side and there was a pop but nothing happened."

That gun apparently was an air gun. The man, whose name has not been released, then stood off police for 3 hours at a hotel until officers drove him out with tear gas Sunday night.

The Houston Chronicle reported the man "is accused of shooting an air gun at the restaurant manager, displaying a semiautomatic assault rifle and pistol, then exchanging gunfire with three officers."
