SWAT Team Moronic in Texas, Blinds Judge

DALLAS (CN) - A Collin County judge was blinded for several days after being shot by blank rounds during a mock hostile takeover of his courtroom. A gun was fired accidentally near Judge John Roach Jr.'s face during the exercise at the Collin County Courthouse in McKinney.

In one scenario, Roach was to be taken hostage by a volunteer playing a gunman, according to the Collin County Sheriff's office.

"He was falling or pushed down by the SWAT team, which is natural. Then he fired point blank at my head with a gunshot," Roach told WFAA-TV. "I leaned down and put my head in my hands and saw all the blood and knew I had been hurt."

Judge Roach was taken immediately to Plano Medical Center, then recovered at home for several days, according to the sheriff's office.
