ALBANY, N.Y. (CN) – An attorney cannot return from suspension after being convicted of compromising intelligence sources. Shamai Leibowitz pleaded guilty in late 2009 to federal felony charges of disclosure of classified information for giving classified material to a person who then published it on a blog. The justices of the Third New York Appellate Division denied Leibowitz’s request to set aside his interim suspension from the practice of law. “Allowing him to continue to practice is not consistent with the maintenance of the integrity and honor of the profession, the protection of the public, or the interest of justice,” they wrote.
