Suit between feuding attorneys proceeds

NEW ORLEANS — A federal court in Louisiana denied two former law partners’ motion to dismiss, on jurisdictional grounds, a complaint brought by a third ex-partner in their firm, according to whom the two lawyers sent letters to clients “untruthfully stating that plaintiff withheld settlement offers,” that they “hacked plaintiff’s personal accounts and destroyed data,” and that “they possessed nude photographs of plaintiff’s wife.” The complaining lawyer was not a member of the firm when he filed his complaint, so the litigants are diverse and jurisdiction is proper.
