LOS ANGELES – Ph.D. candidate Nicholas Vakkur sued the Pardee Rand Graduate School and Rand Corp., claiming they rejected his thesis and gave him the boot because the thesis portrayed the Sarbanes-Oxley Act unfavorably, and former SEC Chairman Arthur Levitt, a backer of the law, is a major contributor to Rand, and a member of Vakkur’s thesis committee “aggressively promoted” the law too.
