Students Sue Limo Service for Prom Fiasco

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CN) – Fourteen high school kids sued a limo service, claiming they paid $3,000 for a ride to the prom, but the limo was littered with “alcohol paraphernalia” from “some other event,” causing school officials to detain them until they missed the prom.
Lead plaintiff Haley O’Hanna et al. sued Go Florida Limo and Party Bus, in St. Lucie County Court.
They claim that the limo service made them miss the Jensen Beach High School Senior Prom on May 3 this year.
The students claim that when they boarded the bus “it was filthy and there were used cups left over from some over event.”
After arriving at 10:15 p.m., school officials stopped them from entering the prom, and said “that the bus would be searched before any of them would be allowed inside the prom.”
The school chaperones found an empty Champagne bottle inside the bus.
All the students on the limo were breathalyzed and they all pass with 0.00 blood alcohol content, the kids say. But the process took an hour and a half, and the prom ended at midnight.
They say they were humiliated and embarrassed, and that the humiliation and embarrassment continues.
They seek damages for breach of contract.
They are represented by Jeremy Harris with Morris, Laing, Evans, Brock & Kennedy, of West Palm Beach.
