Student Says Professor|Shot Photos Up Her Dress

CINCINNATI (CN) - Cincinnati State Technical and Community College retained a teacher who had been accused of stalking one student and exposing himself to another, and this teacher used his cell phone camera to shoot photos up another student's dress, for which he was convicted, sent to jail, and ordered to register as a sex offender, the student claims in Federal Court.

Plaintiff Denise Johnson says the school retained Michael Schilling, failed to investigate his troubled history, and failed to act when it learned of the repeated complaints against him.

Johnson claims that when she reported that Schilling sneakily shot photos up her dress, Assistant Dean Angela Hanesel told her she "did not have time for petty issues," and sent her to Dean Rayma Smith.

Dean Smith allegedly "shook her finger at her [Johnson] and rudely told her 'not to raise her voice again, do you understand me?'" Smith also told her "that she did not have time for Ms. Johnson at the moment," the complaint states.

Johnson says she had to resort to campus police, who found "approximately 50 photos of Ms. Johnson taken that day" on Schilling's cell phone, and similar photos of another student.

"Mr. Schilling was subsequently fired by Cincinnati State and plead(ed) guilty to criminal charges of attempted voyeurism. He received 16 days in jail as well as having to register as a sex offender for the next 15 years," the complaint states.

Johnson demands punitive damages for discrimination, retaliation and negligence. She is represented by Leslie Ghiz.
