The Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection sued 26 companies and people in federal court, claiming they illegally obtained consumer reports from (nonparty) Experian and provided them to other companies that market debt-relief services to student borrowers.

SANTA ANA, Calif. — The Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection sued 26 companies and people in federal court, claiming they illegally obtained consumer reports from Experian and provided them to other companies that market debt-relief services to student borrowers. Experian is not a party to the action.
