EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (CN) - A strip club has sued a former employee in Federal Court for allegedly using the club's confidential information to steal its dancers and customers. The Penthouse Club claims Michael P. McLean, the former director of its VIP Room, violated a no-compete and confidentiality clause by getting a job at the nearby Hollywood Showclub and using Penthouse's information to recruit customers and dancers to Hollywood.
Penthouse fired McLean on Feb. 9, 2009 for punching a customer, which is a violation of the club's "no punch policy," the suit states. Penthouse is seeking a ruling requiring McLean to return all of Penthouse's information, to keep what he knows confidential, to not work at any other strip clubs within 25 miles of the Penthouse or its affiliates for a year and prohibiting McLean from recruiting Penthouse dancers and customers.
