CHICAGO — A federal court in Chicago granted a preliminary injunction blocking the Department of Justice from enforcing new conditions attached to federal community-policing grants awarded to Chicago and Saint Paul, Minnesota. Immigration information sharing, anti-DEI certifications and other funding restrictions likely exceed the department’s statutory authority, and the cities are likely to succeed in their challenge.
