Sterling Bank VP Gets 1½ Years

HOUSTON (CN) - A former senior vice president at Sterling Bank was sentenced to 1 1/2 years in federal prison for stealing from customer accounts.

Kim Arnold, 57, of Tomball, northwest of Houston, also was ordered to pay restitution of $141,430 to the bank.

Sterling was purchased last year by Dallas-based Comerica.

Arnold stole the money from October 2007 until December 2008, prosecutors said.

She admitted to an FDIC investigator that she made at least 47 unauthorized withdrawals from customer accounts, the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Arnold, who is free on bond, will surrender to a yet-to-be-determined federal prison.
