Stem Cell Opponents Go Back to Court

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (CN) - Opponents of embryonic stem-cell research revived a lawsuit that seeks to block $21 million from going to life sciences research.

In November, Cole County Circuit Judge Richard Callahan tossed out a similar lawsuit, filed by the Missouri Roundtable for Life, ruling that there was no genuine legal dispute to be decided.

The group has filed an amended suit in Cole County, claiming there is a legal dispute over whether lawmakers had the authority to include $21 million in the state budget to disburse as life sciences grants.
