State Wants Aircraft Emissions Regulated

LOS ANGELES (CN) - Attorney General Jerry Brown today will petition the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to regulate greenhouse gas emissions from aircraft, which accounted for 12 percent of greenhouse gas emissions from U.S. transportation in 2005, and 3 percent of the U.S.' total carbon dioxide emissions. The FAA estimates that emissions from U.S. aircraft will rise by 60 percent by 2025, due to expected increases in air traffic.
