MANHATTAN (CN) - New York Supreme Court Acting Justice Arlene Silverman sued the New York State Assembly and Senate for failing to increase the salaries of state judge for more than 9 years. Silverman claims the Legislature's inaction leaves its judges paid at a constitutionally inadequate level, and violates the separation of powers, as the Legislature has raised virtually all other employees' salaries in that time, at least for inflation, while "holding judicial compensation hostage" to political issues.
Courthouse News will publish a link to this New York County complaint when it becomes available Wednesday.
