State Senator Touts Online Textbooks|To Rein in Runaway Costs at Colleges

SACRAMENTO (CN) - State Sen. Elaine Alquist has asked textbook publishers and state colleges to rein in the runaway costs of college textbooks. Alquist, D-Santa Clara, says state law already "urges" publishers and state colleges to do this. Her bill, SB 48, expresses "the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation relating to the affordability of college textbooks and the promotion and use of online textbooks."
