KANSAS CITY, KAN. (CN) - A Suzuki dealer unconscionably sold 650 cars by promising they would be "free:" offering rebates to cover the payments, and when the rebates ran out, promising customers could make a new deal, the State of Kansas says. It wasn't true, and Chad Franklin Suzuki aka Legends Suzuki stuck customers with the bills, the State says.
The state says the dealer ran a deceptive ad for its "rebate" program at least 9,484 times. The dealer's salesmen allegedly told customers they were offering the "free" cars to "build an inventory of used vehicles."
The state demands restitution, $10,000 fine for each violation, doubled for violations against old or disabled people, and an injunction, in Wyandotte County Court.
