State Cracks Down On ADT Security

MARTINEZ, CALIF. (CN) - The State of California claims that ADT Security Services deceives customers by using a form contract that does not state customers' total payments, requires an unreasonable $450 fee for early termination, hides that fee in boilerplate language "indistinguishable from the other boilerplate paragraphs," and claims the right to raise its monthly fees, and does raise them, above the rate stated on Page 1. The state demands penalties and an injunction, in Contra Costa County Court.
