State Colludes In Coal Mine’s|Massive Pollution, Groups Say

HUNTINGTON, W. VA. (CN) -A suitby the Ohio Valley Environmental Coalition accusesWest Virginia'senvironmental agency of colludingwith the coal industry to avoid enforcement of the Clean Water Act, allowing Hobet Mining to release selenium into the water system more than7,000 times. Theenvironmental coalition says the pollution should have resulted in fines totalling $98.8 million.
