Stanford Financial Exec Sues Lloyd’s

DALLAS (CN) - Laura Pendergest-Holt, chief investment officer of Stanford Financial Group Co., claims Lloyd's of London owes her defense in several lawsuits stemming from the Stanford Group's alleged $8 billion Ponzi scam. Pendergest-Holt was arrested in February and charged with obstructing a government proceeding. Alan Stanford, head of the banking group, also was arrested and faces federal charges.

In her complaint in Dallas County Court, Pendergest-Holt says prosecutors have frozen her assets and "Plaintiff thus has no assets to defend herself against the SEC's claims."

She is represented by Brian Lauten with Sawicki & Lauten.
