Standing to Sue Square

<span style="font-weight: 400;">A bankruptcy attorney has standing to bring a civil rights claim against mobile payment company Square, the California Supreme Court <a href="https://www.courts.ca.gov/opinions/documents/S249248.PDF"><strong>ruled</strong></a>. The attorney – who visited Square’s website and alleges the company’s terms and conditions excluded him from equal access to its services – did not need to have entered into an agreement with Square in order to have standing under the Unruh Civil Rights Act. </span>

SAN FRANCISCO – A bankruptcy attorney has standing to bring a civil rights claim against mobile-payment company Square, the California Supreme Court ruled . The attorney – who visited Square’s website and alleges the company’s terms and conditions excluded him from equal access to its services – did not need to have entered into an agreement with Square in order to have standing under the Unruh Civil Rights Act.
