Stand Your Ground

A Florida appeals court ruled that murder charges should have been dismissed against a defendant who shot and killed a man who had instigated a car chase that ended in a parking lot and began banging on the window of the defendant’s truck while yelling threats. The defendant is entitled to “Stand Your Ground” immunity. 

LAKELAND, Fla. – A Florida appeals court ruled that murder charges should have been dismissed in a case where a man who had instigated a car chase that ended in a parking lot was shot to death by the defendant after he began banging on the window of the defendant’s truck while yelling threats. The defendant is entitled to “Stand Your Ground” immunity.
