‘Stand Your Ground’

A man convicted of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon is entitled to a new immunity hearing because the trial court failed to apply a 2017 amendment to Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” statute, the court of appeals ruled. The amendment shifts the burden of proof from the defendant to the state.
