Spinach Farm Sues Insurer For $12 Million

MONTEREY, CALIF. (CN) - Spinach grower Fresh Express demands $12 million from a syndicate at Lloyd's and QBE Insurance Ltd., in a claim stemming from the fatal 2006outbreak of e. coli-contaminated spinach. Fresh Express, of Salinas, claims it had a $12 million "Total Recall Brand Protection Policy," including coverage for "accidental contamination," which the defendants have breached.
