Spanish Language Scams

The Federal Trade Commission has charged two separate groups with taking advantage of Spanish speakers with offers of high-paying envelope-stuffing jobs advertised through Spanish-language newspapers.

The FTC charged one scammer and settled with another group of scammers, exacting a judgment of over $1.2 million, of which less than $115,000 is to be paid.

Defendant Zoilo Cruz and, in the second case, Min Sung Kim along with Kim's company Integrity Marketing Team would ask for a deposit from applicants in order to begin stuffing envelopes. The applicants paid deposits rangnig from $37 to $45 but jobs never followed.

In August 2007, a federal district court enjoined defendant Kim and his company Integrity Marketing Team and froze their assets.
