Spanish-Language ‘Contender’ TV Show Is A Ripoff, Partners Say

LOS ANGELES (CN) - Azteca International is broadcasting "a complete rip-off of 'The Contender'" TV show under the name "Retador Azteca," Contender Partners claims in Federal Court. Plaintiff, owned by DreamWorks TV and Mark Burnett Productions, claims that Azteca licensed their show for two years, then swiped the idea for a Spanish-language version of the show from plaintiff's sales pitch, and began broadcasting their stolen show this year, "using the same trademark and format as 'The Contender.'"
