SANTA ANA, Calif. (CN) - A Huntington Beach military contractor was sentenced Friday to four years in federal prison for ducking taxes on $16 million he and his company made on defense contracts in Iraq.
Nadim "Nick" Saifan Jr., 48, owned and operated Defense Logistical Support & Services Corp., which got nearly $16 million from the Pentagon for its work in Iraq from 2004 to 2007, prosecutors said in a statement.
He hid some of the money in Lebanon and reported "only a small fraction" of it, the U.S. Attorney's Office said. He also used corporate money to buy himself a Ferrari and a Rolls-Royce.
Saifan has been in jail since he pleaded guilty in May and a judge revoked his bond.
