Snowmageddon in Alabama

Three inches. I measured. This is how much snow was needed to bring the state of Alabama to a standstill.

I know, I know. It doesn't seem like a lot to my friends in the North who get several feet of snow at a time during a bad storm. But this is Bama. We don't see this often, and it was evident today that we do not have the resources to deal with the situation.

Meteorologists predicted snow in Alabama, but mainly in the South of the state. Here in Birmingham, we were expecting a dusting, but we were told the low temperatures could mean icy roads.

The snow started falling around 9 a.m. in the Birmingham area and continued for several hours. Schools started closing, but the snow was still falling, and it was heavy.

Then we got the call - the buses could not run, we would need to collect our children. The mayhem started.
