CLAYTON, Mo. - A doctor's failure to warn his patient about the dangers of smoking caused the man to develop heart disease, the patient claims in St. Louis County Court. Scott Robbins says Dr. David Pittenger failed to advise him to quit his pack and a half a day cigarette habit and didn't tell him how to reduce his cholesterol through proper diet and exercise.
Robbins suffered a myocardial infarction on June 20, 2007 and has been diagnosed with hypertension, high cholesterol and diabetes.
Robbins says he was Pittenger's patient from Oct. 10, 1995 to June 20, 2007. He claims Pittenger failed to diagnose and treat his health issues in a timely manner and did not order adequate tests though he knew of Robbins' family history of heart disease.
Pittenger and his practice, Eureka Medical, are named as defendants. Robbins' wife, Michele, sued for loss of consortium.
The Robbinses are represented by Burton Greenburg of St. Louis.
