SAN FRANCISCO (CN) - A Japanese company claims a Maine lab is violating patent on its mouse - the animal, not the computer tool. The Japanese company says the American company is selling knockoff immunodeficient mice which are used to study cancer and regenerative medicine.
The Central Institute for Experimental Animals says The Jackson Laboratory in Maine is using the institute's patented process to create the mice. Immunodeficient mice which are used in a wide variety of science, including studies of cancer, infectious disease and regenerative medicine. The immunodeficiency makes it easier to graft cells onto the mouse cells.The Institute is represented in Federal Court by Kenneth Keller
