Skull Bong Not A Hit With Police

HOUSTON (CN) - Three teen-agers were charged with abuse of a corpse for allegedly digging up the body of an 11-year-old boy who died in 1921, removing its head with a garden tool, and using the skull as a bong to smoke marijuana, police said.

Police told the Houston Chronicle that at first they did not believe the gruesome tale to which one of the teens confessed during an unrelated vehicle burglary investigation.

But when officers visited the unmarked cemetery, believed to be reserved for black war veterans and their families, they found a headstone thrown off and broken, and a grave uncovered.

Police said all three suspects, all of whom are home-schooled, confessed that they had dug up the body. But they gave conflicting statements about whether they cut the body's head off, the Chronicle reported.
