LANCASTER, Mo. (CN) - Schuyler County has no prosecuting attorney, after the write-in winner of Tuesday's election turned down the position. Incumbent prosecutor Brenda Swedberg-Bruner ran for judge, but nobody ran to replace her as prosecutor. Kirksville attorney Ben Gray, from neighboring Adair County, received the most write-in votes, but declined the job.
Schuyler County Clerk Bree Shaw said the governor will appoint a prosecutor, but not until January. Schuyler County is in the northeast corner of Missouri, near the Iowa line.
