Should Agency Lessen Radiation to Workers’ Eyes?

WASHINGTON (CN) - The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission requests comment on whether to create regulations based on new recommendations regarding limiting the annual dose of radiation to workers' eyes.

Those workers whose eyes are developing cataracts can handle less radiation to their eyes than previously thought, so the International Commission on Radiological Protection recommends reducing the standard for annual radiation exposure to the lens of the eye.

The agency requests comments on potential impacts, burdens, benefits, and concerns on certain technical issues.
