HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (CN) - A visitor to a Lions Club gun show "was shot in the chest by another gun show patron with a gun that was on display at a vendor's table without a zip tie or other safety mechanism," he claims in court.
William Bennett sued Ace American Insurance and Willis of Illinois, which insured the Hot Springs Lions Club gun show, in Garland County Court.
The Lions Club is not a party to the case.
Bennett says he was shot at the Lions Club's semiannual event at 11:10 a.m. on July 27, 2013. Bennett, a war veteran, says the shooting seriously injured him and triggered a relapse of his post-traumatic stress syndrome.
He seeks punitive damages for negligence; his wife seeks damages for loss of consortium. They are represented by Chester Lauck of Little Rock.
