REDDING, CALIF. (CN) - The Redding Searchlight newspaper demands documents and reports from the City of Redding, concerning allegations of sexual "competition" between "Assistant City Manager Randy Bachman and the Construction Manager Danny Baugh, and their on-the-job sexual escapades with lower-lever City employees," in Shasta County Court.
The Searchlight claims the "'competition' of sexual misconduct on the job" continued from fall 2005 through 2007, and involved at least eight city employees. It wants to see emails, cell phone records and the city's investigative reports.
The Searchlight claims than one source has told it that the documents show that "lower-level City employees recount and confirm that Bachman and Baugh were engaged in a sort of 'competition' of sexual misconduct on the job; that they bragged in their city emails of their sexual conquests of other city employees on the job and on city property; that they 'kept score' of their conquests and boasted as to who was more brazen or outrageous; that they bragged about billing the city for their 'extracurricular activities'; and that the city administration knew that this misconduct went on for two years, but accepted, tolerated or ignored it.
Bachman resigned on Sept. 7, 2007, admitting "great personal indiscretion"; Baugh resigned on Sept. 11, and three other employees were put on leave that day, but the city has refused to clarify what happened, the Searchlight says. It claims the shenanigans were reported on public documents, which it demands be released. See complaint.
