Shelby Auto Club Sues Its Hero

BOSTON (CN) - Shelby American Automobile Club claims it has operated since 1975, publishing newsletters and an encyclopedia for its 5,000 members, fans of cars, particularly the Cobra, designed by Carroll Shelby. It claims Shelby abandoned the mark in 1970, and that now Carroll Shelby Licensing is unfairly demanding it cease operations and turn over merchandise and documents. The club seeks declaratory relief and an injunction. See federal complaint.
