Shareholder Class Actions

Office Depot, its Chairman of the Board Steve Odland and CFO Patricia McKay committed securities fraud by manipulating share price through false and misleading statements, shareholders claim in Miami Federal Court.

To no one's surprise, shareholders have sued Merrill Lynch & Co., its CEO E. Stanley O'Neal and other directors for the $8 billion write-down caused by subprime mortgage problems. Also sued in New York County Court are Ahmass Fakahany, Gregory Fleming, Jeffrey Edwards, Carol Christ, Armando Codina, Vigis Colbert, Alberto Cribiore, John Finnegan, Judith Jonas, Joseph Prueher, Ann Reese, Charles Rossotti, and Aulana Peters.

Shareholders accuse Washington Mutual and its officers Kerry Killinger, David Schneider and Thomas Casey of inflating WaMu securities since July 19, 2006, by false and misleading statements, in Manhattan Federal Court.

Westsound Bank Financial Group made false and misleading statements in its registration statement and prospectus, shareholders claim in a class-action complaint in Seattle Federal Court. They also sue David K Johnson, Mark D. Freeman, Brett T. Green, Veronica R. Colburn, Brent A. Stenman, Robin A. Seelye, Louis J. Weir, Larry C. Westfall, Richard N. Christopherson, James H. Lamb, Brian B. McLellan, Dean Reynolds, Donald H. Tucker, and DA Davidson & Co.

Shareholders accuse LJ International and its directors of breaching fiduciary and wasting corporate assets. Also sued in Los Angeles Superior Court are Yu Chuah Yih, Ka Man Au, Hon Tak Ringo Ng, Andrew N. Bernstein, Frank Chi Fai Cheung, Po Yee Elsa Yue, Wing Kwan Ted Lai, and Kelvin Wong.

Shareholders claim Genius Products' reverse stock split will unfairly cash out all minority shareholders.
