Sex Columnist Sues Porn Actress Of The Same Name

SAN FRANCISCO (CN) - No, really. Violet Blue, "a well-known and respected personality in the field of human sexuality, sexual health, and relationship education," claims Ada Mae Johnson, a porn actress, is performing under the names Violet Blue, Violet, Violet Lust, and operating as Violet Blue Inc., infringing and diluting the plaintiff's trademark and competing unfairly.

She claims the defendant gets herself up to look like the plaintiff, with long dark hair and "Betty bangs." She claims the defendant continues to work under the infringing pseudonym despite receiving plaintiff's cease-and-desist letters and promising to knock it off. And she claims she has been hurt professionally by the defendant's pseudonym, as the media have asked about her appearance at the Exotic Erotic Ball of 2006, which the plaintiff did not attend. Plaintiff's works include the weekly "Open Source Sex" column on the San Francisco Chronicle's Web site, and 17 books, which she says have sold 300,000 copies. Defendant's works include "My Ass No. 12," "Shut Up and Blow Me No. 29," and "Who Violet Blew." Plaintiff seeks an injunction and damages. She is represented in Federal Court by Colette Vogele.
