LOS ANGELES (CN) - The seventh and last L.A. County Sheriff's deputy convicted of obstruction of justice was sentenced Monday to a year and a half in federal prison.
James Sexton, 30, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Percy Anderson, who said Sexton "lost the courage to stand up when he knew things were wrong."
A jury convicted Sexton in September of conspiring to obstruct justice and obstructing justice.
He was one of seven L.A. County deputies convicted of conspiring to obstruct an FBI investigation into civil rights abuses at L.A. County jails.
The U.S. Attorney's Office announced his sentence Monday.
