LOS ANGELES (CN) - A San Gabriel Valley man was sentenced Thursday to seven years in federal prison for being boss of a ring that stole credit card numbers from around the world and used them to buy "hundreds of thousands of dollars of luxury goods."
Zhanghang Wu was sentenced to 87 months in federal prison.
Wu, 38, of Alhambra, aka Leo Han, pleaded guilty in December 2012 to conspiracy and credit card fraud.
Wu's ring cost victims more than $1 million, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
Wu was arrested in Las Vegas in July 2012, where he had fled after federal agents searched his L.A.-area home in March, prosecutors said. He was living in casino hotels and had just sent runners to Chicago to continue his scam, the U.S. attorney said.
