Serial Plaintiff Owes Landlord $2000 in Fees

RALEIGH, N.C. (CN) - A landlord is entitled to $2,000 in attorney fees from a tenant who filed 42 lawsuits in the last six years, the North Carolina Court of Appeals ruled.

Mark Ward sued his landlord, Jett Properties LLC, claiming that other tenants engaged in "football slinging and kicking" close to his vehicle.

Judge Hunter upheld the trial court's ruling that Ward filed his lawsuit with an improper purpose, especially because one of Ward's previous suits was exactly like the current case.

Hunter affirmed that Jett was entitled to $2,000 in legal fees as a sanction against Ward.
