Senate Confirms|Sotomayor, 68-31

WASHINGTON (CN) - The Senate today confirmed Sonia Sotomayor to the U.S. Supreme Court by a vote of 68-31. Sotomayor, 55, will become the 111th justice, the third woman and the first Hispanic person on the Supreme Court. Democrats backed unanimously; only nine Republicans voted for her. Sen. Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts, who is ill, did not vote.
