Senate Confirms Attorney as Ambassador

ST. LOUIS (CN) - The U.S. Senate has confirmed Kevin O'Malley, a St. Louis native and attorney, as ambassador to Ireland.

O'Malley was approved by voice vote Thursday, without opposition.

O'Malley practiced law at Greensfelder, Hemker & Gale, where he focused on medical negligence, federal white-collar criminal defense and product liability defense.

He has 40 years of trial experience and is a former special attorney in the Organized Crime and Racketeering Section at the Department of Justice, a former assistant U.S. attorney in St. Louis and an instructor for the American Bar Association's Central and East European Law Initiative in Moscow and Warsaw.

O'Malley is a graduate of St. Louis University School of Law.
