Secret Service Looking for Agent's Stolen Laptop

The U.S. Secret Service confirmed Friday that it looking for a laptop stolen from an agent's car while it was parked in his driveway in Brooklyn. According to published reports, the laptop contains floor plans of Trump Tower, details on the criminal investigation of Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server, and even information pertaining to the pope.

(CN) – The U.S. Secret Service confirmed Friday that it looking for a laptop stolen from an agent’s car while it was parked in her driveway in Brooklyn.

The theft occurred sometime early Thursday morning, and several media outlets, including CBS News and Reuters are reporting they’ve been told the laptop contains floor plans of Trump Tower, details on the criminal investigation of Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server, and even information pertaining to the pope.

In its brief statement, the Secret Service said agency-issued laptops contain multiple layers of security including full disk encryption.

It also said agents are not permitted to have classified information of their laptops.

“An investigation is ongoing and the Secret Service is withholding additional comment until the facts are gathered,” the agency said.

The New York Daily News is reporting that some items stolen with the laptop, including coins and a black bag with the Secret Service insignia on it, have been recovered.

The Secret Service is requesting anyone with information regarding this crime to please contact the New York Police Department and the U.S. Secret Service New York Field Office.
