SEC Investigates Short Sellers

WASHINGTON (CN) - The SEC announced what it called a "sweeping expansion" into possible market manipulation in securities of financial institutions. The SEC said it will require hedge fund managers, broker-dealers and institutional investors with "significant trading activity" in financial stocks or credit default swaps to "disclose those positions" and "provide certain other information" under oath. The probe is looking into "recent short selling activity."
