Scientologist evading service of process in human trafficking case

TAMPA, Fla. — A federal judge in Florida granted former childhood Church of Scientology members’ motion for an order declaring that a church representative has been properly served in their suit, which alleges human trafficking by the alleged provision of unpaid labor and services on a cruise ship. The former members demonstrated due diligence in trying to find the rep, who is actively evading service, so their failure to file a signed certified mail receipt is excusable.
